Understanding PDPA Guidelines

PDPC has provided a few guidelines to PDPA. The main advisory guide is the core which affects companies across the board. The sector specific and industry guidelines are industry-related guidelines and applicable to only certain industry which we do not cover on our site. There are 17 other guides (as of 29 Feburary 2020) that covers several topics. We provide a summary of the main guidelines for your reference and understanding.

About the Main Advisory Guidelines

The main advisory guidelines provided by PDPC is very comprehensive. So far there are 7 main guidelines that are published (as of 29 Feb 2020). We provide here the gist of the first 5 main guidelines which are only for your reference and should not be taken as legal advice. We do not cover PDPA and election activities as it is not a common application except for election. The advisory guidelines for NRIC or other national identification numbers are somewhat covered within the 8 selected topics.
